I got commissioned to paint these three houses for a friend as a Christmas gift to her parents. They are the three homes she and her family lived in when she was growing up. It was such an honor to be asked to do this, and a fun project too!

2012 Poster Calendars
Since 2010 I’ve been making poster calendars for friends and family each Christmas. Here are the 2012 editions, hot off the (digital) press!
I’m selling them for $10 each this year. If interested in purchasing, please email me: natalie.nelson718@gmail.com.

Just a little sneak peak of the calendars I’m working on for 2012. I’ll have them finished in about a week!*

I decided to draw all the houses and apartments I visited last weekend….well, I only remembered to do it twice (it was a long day) so here they are.

Been working on some posters this week for an upcoming event at the church. (Under the art direction of Weylon Smith) Pretty excited to see them printed. Here are some cropped-in details of each of the posters:
Another outtake from my sketchbook. I guess I’ve got a thing for dripping paint these days…
For you, Adele.
this may have started out as another experiment with painted type in my sketchbook, but now it only seems appropriate to post this on the same day that Adele cancelled her already rescheduled Nashville show. So much disappointment right now. So much.

Magnolia Invites
I’m so happy to finally post these fun invitations I got to design and illustrate for my dear friends, Meg and Benton. They gave me lots of creative freedom to paint and do what I love, and thankfully everyone was pleased with the results:
Detail of some of the flowers:
Hooray for the happy couple!

Cicada Summer
I would have been a little more socially-relevant (to fellow Nashvillians) if I had posted this a couple weeks ago. Oh, well. Their legacy lives on…

For Illustration Friday: "Stir"
Like everyone else who uses the internet, I couldn’t stop watching this video on Friday, and couldn’t stop looking at photos of the horrific events in Japan. Cars and planes look like tiny toys amidst the rubble.
Illustration Friday’s word for the week is “Stir”. I kept thinking that the whirlpool looked just like someone had a giant wooden spoon and was using it...
To my sister, on her birthday:
You’ve been making life colorful since 1988. And I love you.
Happy Birthday! (can’t wait to celebrate with you in a few weeks.)
I painted this for the my friend Linda’s blog. You should do yourself a favor and go read it, because she is a fantastic writer.

Its a satisfying feeling to actually finish a sketchbook. Even when the images are rather unfinished, themselves:

Wedding Invitation
An invitation set I did for some friends. The wedding was held at a rustic barn, and there were alpaca llamas in attendance as well.
These little llamas were also mentioned in a recent post on Style Me Pretty. How exciting!

Paste's 5th Anniversary
I did an internship for Paste Magazine in the summer of 2007. That summer, the magazine turned 5, and I designed the Save the Date e-vite and paper invitations for the party.
